Teenager Arrested Over Mass School Bomb Hoax


After a huge bomb hoax shut down hundreds of schools and colleges across the UK, an alleged teenager at the center of a Minecraft gamers feud was arrested.



The 19-year-old was arrested by Hertfordshire police after 24,000 threats were sent to schools informing them of an impending bomb attack if cash wasn't handed over.



The emails were spoofed to look as if they had been sent by a gaming network known as VeltPvP.  Jack  is an Minecraft player-versus player server, of the kind that companies use to sell products to gamers.



Following a massive bomb hoax that shut down schools in hundreds across the UK, a teenager believed to be at the center of an Minecraft gamers' dispute was detained by police from Hertfordshire. Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year-old following 24,000 emails were sent to schools warning about imminent attacks.



These emails were sent to disable VeltPvP and were designed to cause the domain's abuse to be suspended.



The National Crime Agency (NCA) declared that there was 'no credible threat to the emails' that were received this week.

They stated that they understood the concerns of teachers and parents however, they stressed that there was not a credible threat from the emails sent to schools.



"However, we take the information seriously. As this is a live investigation we are unable to comment further.'



In the wake of the hoax email bombs the school was surrounded by signs Cardinal Road School in Feltham



Those involved in the feud claimed opponents had engaged in illegal acts to hinder each other's business.



When asked if he regretted the effects the letters caused to schoolchildren who were forced to evacuate one of the hoaxers responded, "It is terrible, it's not the best thing."



Placing the blame on VeltPvP the hoaxer claimed the network had enaged in a campaign of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks - which he alleges were used to block other rival Minecraft servers.



Parents were urged to collect their children after the threat of a bomb hoax email



In an official statement, VeltPvP said: 'We've been targeted by a group of cybercriminals that are trying to intimidate us in any way that they can.



"We apologize deeply for anyone who has been affected by this, but we just want to let you know that this is a fake."



More than 400 colleges and schools across the nation received the email which claimed a bomb had been planted and was set to explode if the cash was not handed over.



Cardinal Road School in Feltham west of London was one of the schools that were targeted by the fake email



Police forces in London, Bristol, Liverpool, Bedfordshire and the the North East were among those investigating.



Parents at a few schools asked to to pick their children up in the wake of concerns about the emails.



Six schools across Hertfordshire were also among those affected: Abbots Hill in Hemel Hempstead, Valley School in Stevenage, The Sele School in Hertford, Duncombe School in Hertford, Stanborough School in Watford and St Albans High School.
